Violin was a primary blues instrument in the early days, but its usage declined when amplified sound came up. Early microphones and amps made the violins sound too high-pitched, and it took a few decades to get back to the mellow tones of the acoustic instruments. By then Muddy Waters’ guitars and Louis Jordan’s horn sections had created the standard tones of rock and jump blues. Violins are still playing catchup.
